Congratulations to Lucy and Jacob, you are both outstanding role-models and ambassadors for the school. Keep up the good work!
It was finally here the day of my ultimate adventure. I was the one who had been chosen to go up in space to see if there had been any life or if there is going to be in the future! I was feeling nervous and excited because I hadn’t been before and didn’t know what to expect. I was travelling in a super fast spaceship up in the Milky Way. Maybe there are aliens on planet Gravitude and other life forms? Upon arrival there appears to be too much gravity on planet Gravitude, so I guess I’m stuck here?
My ultimate adventure would be going into a massive scary forest. I would be able to climb the trees. I would explore to find some new animals and swing from tree to tree like a crazy monkey and that would be the best fun. It would be the funniest thing that I would ever do in my life. I would be so happy and I would be so high up I could be superman, the man of steel, just flying through the trees. It would be so cool and awesome, I hope it comes true because I'm so excited now.
My Ultimate Adventure was an awesome theme park called Fantasy Island. You need a wrist band that costs £5.00. The first ride I went on was a roller coaster called the Odyssey. It’s the biggest and scariest ride. I thought that I couldn’t get on the ride because I was too small, but I was just the right size. I excitedly entered the ride entrance and was strapped in the seat and suddenly the ride began. First we went up a steep incline and dropped down fast. It twisted and turned making loops upside down. It was an awesome experience.
The prompt this week is in celebration of Sir Ranulph Fiennes’ latest challenge.
Sir Ranulph Fiennes, the world’s greatest living explorer and adventurer, is taking part in the world’s most extreme foot race – the Marathon des Sables this April. He will be attempting to run 156 miles (251km) over just 6 days in the blistering heat of the Moroccan Sahara Desert aiming to raise £2.5 million for Marie Curie to help people living with terminal illnesses and their families. If he completes it he will be the oldest Briton, at 71 years old, to have completed the race. The prompt is: … My Ultimate Adventure… Think about your story before you start to write and make a plan. Create a context - who? What? Where? When? Why? How? Remember to include: powerful vocabulary choices; a range of openers; connectives and punctuation for effect. Make sure you include the prompt in your story too! When you have written it, ‘mumble’ read it to yourself to check that it makes sense! Aim to make it interesting and exciting. *Try to avoid repetition. Let your imagination run wild!!! To find out more and to see who is taking part, visit: https://100wc.net/category/100wc/ Good luck! Make sure you email your entries to Mrs Henderson by Friday 27th March. Today, Year 5 worked with Lisa from the Lynx Theatre Company to learn and perform a 'Play in a Day' called 'I'm an Old Scientist...Get me out of here!' - which was chosen as part of our celebration of National Science Week. At 3pm, family, friends and the rest of the school watched the final performance in the hall. We'd like to say a huge thank you to Lisa and an enormous well done to Year 5 - it was awesome! One sunny day, Lucy and her best friend Isabella went to the zoo to learn more about all the fascinating animals that live there, for a school project. First, they went to see the penguins, Lucy was amazed by their stunts. Next, the girls approached the monkey’s cage; suddenly one threw a banana hitting Isabella right on her nose! Just then, there was a chilling scream! As they turned the corner, they saw a huge lion chasing the zoo keeper.
“Well I think that will do for our project, now let’s go home and write it in a word document.” As part of National Science Week and our enrichment project 'Inventions', Year 5 have been designing and building their own space exploration buggies. All vehicles have now been test-driven and are ready to be customised. One lovely warm Saturday night two sisters and brother called Lilly, Annabelle and Sam were going to the pub.
The pub called ‘The Creak’ had tales of menacing, mysterious strange ghosts appearing and there were also tales of people dying as they turned the corner after they had been to the pub. They sat waiting and willing something to happen, watching the minutes on the clock slowly ticking by. Suddenly the door slowly opened and there was a strange noise and a ghost jumped into the room. They all screamed with fright and ran away fast, never to return again! A prince called James was on a quest to find the golden pig’s face. This hidden mask is only found in the high mountains of death. He gathered his army together and set off. Once he and his men arrived they saw the crack in the mountain where the mask lay. As they turned the corner a creature appeared. This was a problem for James and his troops. They sneaked past the creature, ran and grabbed the pig’s face, his army protected him while he walked backwards. When they reached the king, he was impressed and gave them a medal.
