Heavy fog enshrouded our 6 hour hike to Ravenscar but we didn't mind!

Like the Tardis, this museum (housed in the old coroner's building) looked small and innocuous from the outside. However, as we soon discovered when Maggie led us inside, the building was like a time portal bursting with rooms, artefacts and interactive displays.
Sheltering an abundance of wildlife, the tranquil rockpools of Robin Hood's Bay were disturbed yesterday by our Year 4 and 5s who poked, prodded, plodged, picked, patted, peered, peeked, and perused their way across the shoreline. Top finds included prawns, a shore crab carrying eggs and stunning orange and red sea anenomes.
Forget Rio 2016 or Euro 2016, this year's sporting highlight is sure to be the Robin Hood's Bay Domino World cup which kicked off last night in dramatic fashion. Alfie, Mitchell, Adam Anthony, Jamie and Jack.S all recorded victories and progress to the next round of the knockout tournament. The girls must try and claw back some pride today!
A stunning sunny day at Robin Hood's Bay welcomed Shield Row Primary yesterday. The children couldn't wait to get their socks and shoes off and experience the North Sea.
Safe and sound, we all ate lunch in the sun outside Whitby Lifeboat Station. One particularly naughty Herring gull left a nice present on Anthony's backpack!
Before anyone takes umbrage with the subject of this blog (the heartless de-heading of hundreds of dandelions) I would like to point out that the grass around our school was due to be cut the day this activity took place. Year five clearly enjoyed the sun we enjoyed on Thursday and consequently their flowery creative juices began to flow. Dandelion facts:
Dandelion is French for tooth of the lion, relating to their jagged petals. In Aberdeen they are known as Hairy Witches and if you catch a seed you can make a wish. Every part is useful and are renowned for their diuretic properties (10 drips to anyone in Y5 who can tell me what that means by next weekend). Nice photo-bombing Mitchell! |
AuthorYear 5 would like to share their amazing work. Archives
