We LOVED playing Bench Ball!
In Year 3 we had a very productive day learning all about Rememberance. We wrote our own poppy acrostic poems, we explained why we remember our soldiers and created beautiful pieces of descriptive writing imagining we were soldiers in WW1. We also created beautiful silhoette art. When our work was completed we arrannged our work to create our own poppies. Take a look at our finished products. Year 3 would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who donated plastic bottles this week. We used them to create our own poppies for our outdoor diplay. Take a look at an example of our finished products.
In our art topic we have been exploring famous buildings and their architects. We have created our own interpretations of many famous buildings and we have created our own designs to meet a specification. Below is a short video showcasing our work. Year 3 have been VERY busy this half term.
Take a look at our gallery to see some of the fun we have been having! Year 3 have wowed Mrs Wilcock and Mrs Tyrrell-Scott with their marvellous homework this week, a whole week before it is even due in!
Oscar, Laura, Ava and Mason have used Lego, card and other materials to create a home or den for the main characters in our book 'Stig Of The Dump' take a look at their wonderful models below! What a brilliant week Year 3 have had! We're all settled in to our new, colourful classroom and we've started lots of our new topics. In PE were learning about invasion games and on Friday we were practicing with our throwing skills. In science we are learning about forces and magnets, we have been using force meters to investigate the force needed to move an object and we now know forces are measured in newtons, we can't wait to begin out first investigation next week! After our fantastic Romans topic last term, for Year 3's Art Day project we just HAD to try making our very own mosaics!
First had a look at some examples and discussed making mosaics to represent our own personalities. Then we drew out our own designs onto our chosen shapes. Next we carefully cut arranged and painted clay tiles and as they dried we carefully pushed them into our clay bases. We got just a little bit painty and a tiny bit messy, but it was completely worth it for our fabulous fun day. As we had to take time out for our important Road Safety Training, we will be finishing our projects by glazing them tomorrow. Take a look at our work so far... Today Year 3 were practicing their athletics skills in PE learning the skills needed for long jumping. But how could find out which Year 3 pupil could jump the furthest?!
Well, we took our meter rulers, we carefully measured out our jumping zones, and with the help of our team mates and our notebooks we recorded the length of each persons jump. We loved working together and using the skills we have developed in maths to solve our problem. Take a look at a few of our pictures. |
