Today we all took part in the 11am silence and in class we discussed Armistice Day and remembrance. During our reading lesson we read the war poem The Evacuee by Arthur E. King. We used this to create our own blackout poetry selecting key words and phrases and decorating around the rest of the page to allow our words to stand out. Take a look at just a few examples of our beautiful work.
As part of our Stone Age to Iron Age topic today we looked at the foods which would have been commonly eaten by early humans. Many of these foods were breads, nuts, berries and meat from animals like deer. We focused on the Stone Age breads and worked in groups to make our own Stone Age oat cakes. Year 3 used their mathematical skills to weigh and measure the ingredients measuring out flour and oats carefully. We worked together to mix and shape the ingredients and Mrs Wilcock helped us to cook our oat cakes. As a class we discussed the process, the hardest and easiest tasks and finally when the oat cakes were cooked we all had a taste and shared our opinions - they weren't too bad, but we think our lunch was tastier!
A TOPIC LESSON WITH A DIFFERENCE
Finally a big well done to this weeks star of the week, Jayden, who was chosen for his helpful attitude, hard work and super effort in class!
