Science Week in Year 3 got off to an AMAZING start with our whole school trip to the Centre For Life.
Year 3 were lucky enough to have a brilliant workshop all about Growing Plants, we identified the different parts of a plant and the features of different plants. For example, did you know the spikes on a cactus are its leaves?
Then we carried out an experiment measuring the length of cress, learning that even though cress is grown together each stem doesn't grow to exactly the same length.

We LOVED investigating the rest of the museum, the dinosaurs were so exciting and there was so much to interact with, one of our favourite parts was the dinosaur poo! Year 3 thought the 4D cinema experience was really exciting, and we enjoyed investigating in the curiosity zone and drinking from a funny toilet in the brain zone.

Since being back in class we have began our new topic, Rocks, Fossils and Soils. We have organised and classified rocks by their features, then we experimented to investigate which rocks are the most likely to erode and which are the most permeable. Next we began looking at fossils and today we have made our very own fossils using clay and plaster of paris, Year 3 are looking forward to seeing our finished results tomorrow.
