What a busy day! After breakfast, we packed our cases ready for the journey home. Then the winners of the 'Talent Show' and the 'Best Room' were treated to a visit to Dollies for their prizes. The rest of the morning was spent souvenir shopping, sketching the views from the Old School House and chilling out, before having lunch and heading back to Stanley. We have had a brilliant week at Robin Hood's Bay and will be taking away hundreds of happy memories. Year 5 have been AMAZING and we are all immensely proud of them. Well done everyone!

Today we walked to Ravenscar (the town that never was) along the cliffs on the Cleveland Way. Although the walk was approximately 8 miles long, we found it easier than the day before! On the way back, we called into Stoupe Beck and hunted for fossils. Caleb and Kyle found some amazing ammonites. Then, when we reached Boggle Hole we stopped for an ice-cream at the café. For tea, we had fish and chips - mmm... delicious! At 6:30pm we met Rose on the Slipway, who took us on a very spooooooooky ghost walk. However, the fun didn't end there, as tonight we have had our very own 'Year 5's Got Talent...at Robin Hood's Bay' competition. The entries were all fantastic, but the winning act was... 'The Bombs'. Well done everyone, we have had another AWESOME day.
Today we walked from Robin Hood's Bay to Hawsker, along the cliff tops on the Cleveland Way, then back along the Cinder Track. Although it was only 6 miles, it felt more like 100!!! Well done to everyone as this was a tough challenge. Before we set off we posted our postcards and visited 'Dollies' - the best sweet shop in town! Luckily, once we'd completed our walk, we still had enough energy to visit the park on our way back to the Old School House. After tea, we ventured back out again to hunt for fossils. The weather has been great again and everyone is having fun.
Today, we began with a smuggling themed 'Treasure Hunt' which challenged us to solve tricky clues as we further explored the village. After lunch, we worked with the National Trust at the Old Coastguard Station, where we learned about the job of a coastguard and more about the dangers of the sea, before completing the 'Town Trail' and investigating the rockpools in the bay. Tonight, we ventured out to Boggle Hole in the hope that we'd meet some of these friendly and mysterious creatures. However, no-one is quite sure if we really spotted any! We have walked miles today, learned how to read different kinds of maps and have developed our team working skills. It has been fantastic fun - with not a grey cloud in sight!
An hour and a half after setting off from Stanley, we reached Whitby, where we visited the RNLI Station, climbed the 199 steps and ate our lunch at St. Mary's Church. After a quick pit-stop, we then set off for Robin Hood's Bay. Once we'd unpacked our cases and made the beds, we explored the village and had a sandcastle building competition on the beach. Today has been awesome!!! One day, a girl called Claire and a boy called John were visiting their grandma’s house. They needed to take some hot cross buns around. So, off they went. As they walked through the creepy forest they came across a wolf. The wolf said, "Oh, give me those delicious buns!"
Claire said, "NO WAY!” So the wolf chased the children. They quickly ran back home and told their mum. Luckily, the wolf just walked away and they were safe. |
