Multiskills Festival at Greenlands Primary Year 1 had a great time today at Greenland Primary! They took part in many different multi skills activities!
This week in Year 1, we have been talking a lot about the children moving into Year 2, talking about what the children are looking forward to as well as what they are a little nervous about. However, most of all, we have still been having fun! This week we have been embracing our nature topic. We have been looking carefully at the beautiful shapes and patterns you can see in plants and flowers. We then created our own drawings and using only 2 pastels, we coloured them in carefully. Today was a day full of fun and laughter! We came 3rd in our lunchtime rewards and this earned us 18 minutes on the bouncy castle. We had a brilliant time... As you know, it was our class assembly last week. One of the best things was looking back at all of the fun mini Miss Bolton has had with all of you this year. Take a look and let us know what you think!
AS PART OF OUR TOPIC THIS HALF TERM WE HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT THE WORLD AROUND US. WE HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT THE ARTIST ANDY GOLDSWORTHY AND WERE SO INSPIRED BY HIS WORK, WE DECIDED TO TRY AND DO SOME OF OUR OWN. LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK! So much work has taken place this half-term where shall I begin? Our story book has been Handa's Surprise. All about a girl in Africa taking fruit to her friend, but something happens on the way..... We have discovered all kinds of fruit which we tasted and described using adjectives in our writing. We retold the story using new characters, changed the items that were taken, then made up our own conclusion! In Art we looked at African landscapes and tribal-wear. We have some amazing work on display in the corridor! It has also been the Queen's 90th Birthday and we spent some time looking at her life and drawing pictures of her. To coincide with our 'Growing' topic we have tried still life drawing. again, the fabulous work is on display outside our classroom. During Maths we have been learning Division and are soon looking at Capacity. As our Science topic is 'Growing' we have become 'Darwin Detectives' looking around the school grounds for things that grow. We have also planted Sunflowers which the children will bring home soon to be replanted and watch grow taller and taller. Once again the homework has flooded in!! We are always amazed by the efforts you make at home to engage with your children to produce such lovely things. They certainly enjoy doing it!! There are too many pictures to show so here is a slideshow for you to enjoy. Over this past half term, we have been reading the story, 'Edward the Emu' in our English lessons. We have loved this story! We created a story map to help us retell the story. Please listen to our retelling and leave a comment to let us know what you think of our work. Thank you-Year 1! |
