Term ended with a full day of science! The whole school was enthralled by Peter the Scientist who told us lots of interesting facts about Chemistry and Physics whilst proving the points by showing us some great experiments.

Here we are at the end of another busy term. Your children have worked hard and have produced some excellent work!
In Numeracy we have been learning the properties of 3D shapes. There is a great game on BBC Bitesize (KS2 Shapes and Space) which they have thoroughly enjoyed playing. It's a great way of learning the properties whilst having fun. In Literacy we have continued our journey with the Naughty Bus. No doubt your children have told you about the antics he has got up to in the classroom. Once again can I thank you all for the amazing homework that has made it's way into class. Our display board is bursting already!! We have also begun to look at instructions, in particular the use of Imperative (bossy) verbs. As well as working hard we have had some time for fun. Our Easter Egg competition turned out some fabulous entries with almost all of Yr 1 taking part . Winners were Sylvie Dwyer and Jayden Ledger who won an Easter Egg each and everyone else took home a creme egg for entering. To top off a great term we have appeared in our Class assembly which was AMAZING!!! Well done to everyone for learning their lines and performing so brilliantly. And a big thanks to all of the families and friends who came to watch. Finally, myself and Mrs Craig would like to thank you for your continued support. Have a lovely Eastertime, see you in a few weeks . Mrs Bolton. Today we came to school sporting funny faces for Red Nose day 2015. We had a whole school cake sale ( thank you to those of you who baked or bought cakes and donated them) which was appreciated by staff and children alike!!
There were house competitions, a dancathon and as a special treat the children were entertained by Mr Knighton and Mr Lockie dancing and singing to 'Let it Go' from Frozen. Hilarious!!! Counting is still going on but the present total raised today is £275.00. Thank you all for your generosity once more. Welcome back after the half-term break. We are well into the swing of things here in Yr1 learning about weights and measures in Numeracy and continuing the topic of 'materials' in Science. Some children have used scales to balance and others have balanced different weights using blocks the naughty busOur book this half-term is ' Naughty Bus' by Jan and Jerry Oke. A few London Buses have appeared in our classroom and seem to be causing havoc!! Children set a trap and the hiding fairies have been keeping lookout. However, strange things have been taking place and the children are very excited!! A parcel arrived addressed to the class and a bus called Harry popped out! We have made and painted our own bus to play in which is proving very popular, everyone wants to be the driver! Take a look below at the activities and mischief that has taken place over the past two weeks. World Book DayOn Thursday 5th March we celebrated World Book Day in school. Almost every child and adult came dressed as a character from a book. We read lots and visited other classes to hear stories and share favourite books .Wally hid somewhere in school and the children looked everywhere in the 'Where's Wally?' game. It was a great day!!
