Congratulations Year 6 on an amazing last Christmas production at Year 6 and a huge thank you to Miss Shield for her amazing effort to bring the show to life.
I am sure your parents, friends and family are as proud of you as we are.
Over the past few weeks, Year 6 and the whole of Key Stage 2 have been extra busy as the rehearsed for the Key Stage 2 Christmas Performance. Wow, the hard-work paid off as over the past two days they have shown just what stars they are. Their telling of the Christmas Story through the play "The Stars come out for Christmas" was fantastic and I am sure there are several budding actors in the class. Each and every member of the cast should be extremely proud of how hard they worked. Year 6's rendition of Silent Night had Mrs Coy with tears in her eyes.

Today, the spirit of Christmas has come to Year 6. First, we were treated to a sneak preview performance of the EYFS Nativity before joining Year 2 to complete a special Christmas related Design and Technology (D&T) project. As part of their DT project, Year 2 made Christmas decorations. Year 6 were partnered with a member of Year 2 to act as their design buddy. We have helped them with spellings and with ideas. Once the pupils had drawn their design in their book, the fun began and it was time to create their stunning decorations. They have created some amazing decorations, from brilliant baubles to shimmering snowmen and sensational stockings. Although we were there to help Year 2 with their DT project, it was not just decorations that have been made today but new friendships, too. We have loved working with Year 2 to help them be successful. Thank you for letting us help you! Year 6 have had a brilliant afternoon creating interactive Christmas Calendars. They used Pic Collage and Thinglink apps to create a truly interactive experience. Hopefully we will be able to share soon. What an amazing end to the year! Our year 6 children have really done us proud with a spectacular assembly this morning. They are ready to fly off to their new schools in September - Good luck and bon voyage! Year 6 enjoyed their last athletics PE lesson with the coach. After a few days of transition, Year 6 have returned to paint the Grand Canyon. We looked at different artists' interpretations and are using a variety of paints to create our own masterpieces.
It all began when Cerri rudely interrupted the lesson by exclaiming "There's a slug on the wall!" Hysteria ensued but we soon calmed down and came up with a plan. Alfie would rescue it by scooping it up in a scallop shell, which Mrs Hall knew would come in handy one day! We ventured out into the grounds, and a few moments of deliberation, it was decided that the wood would be the best habitat to re-home 'Bob' (as he had affectionately been named)! A real cross curricular adventure to match with our recent Classifying Organisms science topic. After wishing him good luck (we knew he had to be a boy), he was set free into the woods. We couldn't leave it there - a quick 'Google' led us to the information that he was probably a leopard slug or great grey slug (Limax maximus) and wasn't a garden pest, which brought a great sigh of relief to the gardening club members! A few of the class were saddened that Bob couldn't remain as a pet, but ultimately knew that we had sensibly and nobly rescued him! Everyone loved playing 'knee tag' and dodgeball this afternoon. Although we kept stopping for a drink, we still tried hard to get out the opposite team!
