Year 2 have been reading stories by Anthony Browne. For Fathers Day we have retold his story My Dad. We each learnt lines and took our performances very seriously! We all got involved in filming and directing. We hope you enjoy our Fathers Day video!!
In science year 2 are learning all about plants, the different uses of plants, the different parts of plants and how they grow.
Today we began an investigation to find out the different conditions a plant will grow in. We are finding out if seeds will grow without soil, whether they will grow in the cold, whether they will grow in the dark or whether they will grow without water. Take a look at our pictures to see the beginning of our experiment. We used our maths skills to read the measurements on a ruler, a measuring jug and a set of scales to record the length, weight and volume of the items we used. Then we used our literacy skills to write clear predictions about what we think will happen to our plants using the conduction 'because' to explain our reasons. Together we planted a class plant which has compost, light, water and warm air, Oliver said "This one will grow the best because it has everything it needs to grow." We will have to wait a few weeks to find out if he's correct. A huge WELL DONE to Emilia who, outside of school, has taken part in gymnastics and trampolining competitions.
Coming 2nd and 4th out of 48 children competing! She brought in her medal, trophies and certificates to show us! What exciting activities have you being doing outside of school? Year 2 PE days are now Monday and Friday.
This half term we are learning athletics skills preparing for our Sports Day. Please remember your PE kits tomorrow. Thank You! Year 2 really enjoyed their marble jar party today. We got into our PJ's and took our teddies off to the park. We had a lovely picnic with strawberries, pineapple and lots more tasty treats.
Take a look at our party pictures! Year 2 have been AMAZING! We have worked so hard to earn all of our marbles and today we earned our last one!!
Tomorrow we are looking forward to celebrating with a MARBLE JAR PARTY! The class have decided to have a teddy bears pyjama picnic on Thursday afternoon. We are all very excited. Please remember to bring in some pjyamas to change into after lunch and a teddy bear friend. |
