Today, our friends from Green Watch at High Handenhold Fire Station helped us to re-enact the Great Fire of London on a miniature scale! We had spent hours constructing our very own Pudding Lane, only for it to be turned to ash in less than five minutes. We very much enjoyed our afternoon and would like to thank Green Watch for not only making this such an amazing and memorable experience, but also for keeping us safe.

We have had an amazing week in Year 2 and one of the highlights was gymnastics in PE. Lucie and Alexia led the lesson, starting off with an energetic warm up, followed by a demonstration of their skills. Everyone practised different kinds of balances, in preparation for creating a simple routine over the next few weeks.
On Tuesday, we are looking forward to staging our own reenactment of the Great Fire of London - with the assistance of our local fire brigade. If you have any spare cardboards boxes, please send them our way - so that we can build a miniature version of Pudding Lane. Watch this space for more information! Year 2 have had fun raising money for Children in Need. They took part in a sponsored skip and a Just Dance challenge, as well as wearing non-uniform. Well done everyone!
In spite of the rain, we had a great day exploring different habitats at Gibside. Our adventures involved a mini-beast safari, pond dipping and shelter building. Well done everyone! More photos to follow. Today is our visit to Gibside. The forecast is for light rain around lunchtime, so please remember to bring your waterproofs...and wellies - if you have them!
Week 1On the first day back we received a parcel, which contained an intriguing letter from the main character in a very famous book and a puzzle to solve. We worked as a team to unravel the clues and discover our first story of the year...Where the WILD THINGS are!
We have had a great first day back at school. The children looked so smart and so grown up! We have been incredibly busy and are looking forward to lots of adventures together.
We had fun exploring the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo, who is famous for creating portraits using fruit and vegetables! We made our own sculptures, pastel portraits and used an interactive program to investigate online. Why don't you have a go? www.middlestreet.org/archim/archimframe.htm |
