We very much enjoyed investigating, exploring and experimenting at the Centre for Life today, as part of our launch for British Science Week. So much to look forward to this week! Enjoy your half-term holidays.

Year 2 have made a fantastic start to 2018. We have enjoyed exploring our new class book, learning about money and have been busy filling our marble jar. Not only that, we won the attendance award in assembly too! Well done everyone!
On Thursday, we were very lucky. First, we were treated to a sneak preview performance of the EYFS Nativity before Year 6 joined us for the day. Mrs Henderson had set up a special Christmas related Design and Technology project. We were making Christmas decorations.
We were partnered with a member of Year 6 who acted as a design buddy. They helped us with spellings and with our ideas. Before we began our own designs we studied lots of other felt Christmas tree decorations. This gave us the inspiration for our won designs. We then had to draw our design into our DT book. Once we had done this, the fun began and it was time to create our stunning decorations. This involved sewing felt together, stuffing the decoration with wadding before finally decorating them with sequins and ribbon. Although Year 6 were there to help us with our DT project, we also developed new friendships. We have loved working with Year 6. Thank you for helping us and we hope you had as much fun as we did. This morning, Year 2 visited St. Andrew's Church in Stanley to take part in a Christmas Journey. We learned all about the Christmas story and had fun taking part in different activities.
Year 2 were set the task of recreating Pudding Lane, where the Great Fire of London started, as part of their homework. The results are amazing. Well done to you and your special helpers.
