I was sleeping in my bed when I heard a noise; footsteps! As I leaped out of my bed to look out my dull window I saw nothing just a plain, empty street. I was shocked, my street is normally as busy as grand central station. But not tonight. Suddenly I heard the footsteps again. A bit more worried this time, I opened my door. But again no one was there. I was starting to think I was hearing things, when a black figure shot past me. "What was that?" I didn't know what or where it is, but it's here...
The darkness of the night makes my street change; normally full of bustling people but now it is eerily quiet...

Thank you, Cian, for entering this week's challenge. You ended your story on quite the cliffhanger! I'm wondering what's going on with that black figure. Is it human? What's going to happen next? What made your story so effective is how you wrote the internal dialogue of your character. I knew exactly what was going on and what he was thinking. However, I'm not sure why he opened the door. Myself, I would've double-locked the door, closed the shades and hidden under the covers!
