Last half term, the Reception children were very busy preparing, planting and looking after our growing box. The children planted radish, cress, beans and carrots. They even made their own scarecrow to keep the birds away!
The children check their plants on a daily basis. Last week, one of the children noticed that something amazing had happened and it was ready to pull out. Taking tips from one of our previous stories, 'The Enormous Turnip', we pulled and pulled until finally, out popped an enormous radish!

The children had a lot of fun investigating the radish. They were very excited about what they had grown. The children asked if they could taste the radish...
The responses from the children were very mixed...some children loved it and others used the word 'disgusting'. However, I was very proud because everyone had a try. We can't wait to see what grows next :-)
