Congratulations to our 'Stars of the Week.' Achievement Assembly is always a great end to the week and what an epic it was this week.
Great news on the sporting front at Shield Row Primary this week with success for our Y5&6 five-a-side teams.
Having played 9 hard games in the Leisureworks Winter League both of our teams have steadily improved. Our A team, made up of 6 players from the 7 a side squad (but only 2 Year 6's), have earned some deserved success. Finishing 2nd in the league is a great achievement and myself and the rest of the staff are really proud of the way you have represented yourselves in all of the games. You have played as a team, showing superb effort and determination to earn yourselves success. I know Mr Lockey was bursting with pride at the way you performed during the final week. Needing 3 wins from the final 3 games to stand a chance of finishing in the top two you listened to advice, worked hard and deservedly finished the league as runners-up! Winning all 3 games! AWESOME! Who knows if it hadn't been for a last second equaliser by the eventual league winners in their game against us we might have pipped them to the title. Our B team, made up of several players experiencing competitive football for the first time, received several positive comments during the final week of the competition from other schools. The battled hard and gave every team a hard game, having improved a huge amount over the course of the competition. We hope you enjoyed representing the school? Congratulations to you all on your attitude and effort and a huge thanks to the parents who have supported us with helping to transport you to games. A big thank you for winning the school a trophy and yourselves a medal, you have brought success to the school and deserve a huge amount of congratulations for your performances. |
