Great day in school on Friday raising money for Sports Relief. The children enjoyed an assembly, a fun run, a 'Just Dance' extravaganza and finally a penalty shoot out. My legs ached so much from my goalkeeper antics. However, I still managed to save a few of the Year 5 and 6 shots. Maybe Sunderland will come calling yet!!!! Thanks to the School Council for organising the day.
Well done to Year 1 and Mrs Wood for their class assembly. The children were brilliant and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the retelling of The Gingerbread Man. The children even rewrote their own version where the Gingerbread Man managed to escape...on the train! Thanks to all the parents who came in. It was an amazing turnout. What a bizarre day I had yesterday. I was invited to Early Years to read the potion recipes that Nursery and Reception Class had been writing. Little did I know what they had in store...Not only had they written the most disgusting combination of ingredients (spiders, beetles, worms and slugs!!!), but they had also actually made a brew for me to test. I opened the cauldron. The smell was disgusting! I took the spoon and swallowed the bug concoction. A worm wriggled in my mouth!! The potion tasted like rotten eggs and smelly socks!! Everyone held their breath to see what would happen next... The children turned my lovely locks from brown to a shocking shade of red!!! No sympathy at all from the children - just laughter. Will I ever trust them again? Great assembly Year 5 - well done. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed finding out about Wind in the Willows. You were very confident, clear and the song was brilliant. It was a lovely way to end the week. Emilia, Amelia and Isabella made my day with their fantastic recounts of the Gingerbread Man. Their writing was superb and they read their stories beautifully. Well done girls! We've reached the end of another busy and exciting week in school. I've had some great moments this week. I had the privilege of reading Zog and Stick Man to our nursery children as part of our World Book Day celebrations. The children were brilliant, although one or two of their teddy bears were very excited! Our 'Bedtime Stories' theme worked well and everyone came to school in their pyjamas or onesies with their favourite book and cuddly toy. There was a lovely atmosphere throughout the day.
Well done to Year 3 for their fantastic Romans class assembly. Roman warriors and face painted Celts all made an appearance, along with Boudicca! I am so proud of your hard work. The Boudicca rap was brilliant!! Enjoy the weekend. |
