What a morning with the children! Haston and Hinks reached the summit of Gallbarrow Fell at the same time. Brilliant teamwork and determination from the children was rewarded with an amazing view. We'll done everyone.
After eventually warming up from the dip in the lake, it was time for a spot of orienteering. The challenge given by Stu and John was to use the map to find the markers located around the centre. The children displayed some fantastic map reading skills - even if the map was upside down! However, our efforts were hindered by missing markers - someone else must have stolen them earlier! After supper, it was time for bed. Lights out by 10.00pm. Children asleep by some ridiculuous hour after midnight!
Jog and Dip
What a cold start to the trip - but amazing fun. After a jog from the centre to the edge of the lake, the children entered the freezing temperature of Ullswater. Starting with a dip up to our knees, followed by a round of 'heads, shoulders, knees and toes', we soon sorted out who were the brave and daring children. Those brave (or daft!) enough walked to the edge of the jetty, and jumped in, completely submerged in the water. It was so cold it took your breath away! Fantastic experience! |
