Another amazing piece of homework, linked to Year 1s work on Handa's Surprise. Oscar and Thomas' masks were spectacular. Well done to you both.

Good luck to all of our Year 6 children. You have worked so hard and deserve every success. The week will fly over. Look forward to party day on Friday and then you will have amazing fun in Howtown next week - rock climbing, canoeing, gorge walking and more. You are all stars.
Well done to our Stars of the Week. Another positive Achievement Assembly and great to hear about the wonderful work and kindness shown by the children. Good luck to Katie and Keane. You will be missed by everyone.
What an amazing piece of homework. As part of their work on Handa's Surprise, the children were given the task of creating a jungle animal mask. Thomas shared his wonderful elephant mask with me - superb piece of artwork. It is good enough for the Lion King stage show! Well done Thomas. Mr Blake and I were entertained by Lily reading a section of Roald Dahl's The Minpins. She is a wonderful reader, who is expressive and fluent. Well done Lily - you are a star!
Well done to the school football team for finishing second in the Eddie Embleton cup competition.
After making it to the finals last week, the team turned up to Greenland (the school not the country - although there was plenty of snow and an almost arctic climate) on Wednesday evening, full of optimism. They saw off Burnhope in the first game - meaning that a win against Burnopfield would see the trophy heading back to school. Sadly, it was not to be. A superb strike from Jacob saw us take an lead early, however we were pegged back by two goals soon after. The team pressed for an equaliser, but the game ended 1 - 2. Despite the defeat, everyone was upbeat. The children played the games in the right spirit and were a real credit to the school. Well done lads -and congratulations to Ethan for 'photobombing' the team picture!! Well done to everyone in Dahl for winning the Bucket Point trophy for the spring term. As a result of their hard work, 'bucket filling' and random acts of kindness, they spent Friday afternoon having fun at Krazy Kingdom. The children climbed the frames, slid down the sldes, played ball sports, fired sponge balls at each other and generally went crazy!
Well done to our final stars of the week for the spring term. It was great to hear how amazing so many of the children had been this week. My favourite reason this week was for Leo, who makes Mrs Bolton happy every single day! Fantastic singing by the whole school. It's great to hear the enthusiasm and see the wonderful behaviour of our children. They are a real credit to the school, their families and the community. |
