All across the world, people are enjoying life as we know it. But in a small country of England, on the side of the queens palace, there was a rather large and icky pipe. Inside that pipe, there was a green shed. Within it, there was a horse in a octopus tank. Alive. It swam carefully around its cage. But that was not everything in the cage. Oh no! There was a slight opening behind a large, seaweed covered rock. James and I stepped into the tank. We unsealed the hatch and in a flash a beam of light shone in front.
Dear diary,
Today was awesome, my family and I travelled from the freezing cold England to the warm Australia. On the plane I had a ham sandwich, cold orange juice and a packet of salt and vinegar crisps. I took a bite out of my delicious ham sandwich and I got a text from my friend saying fireworks were being set off at the local park; but I didn't believe him. Then when I looked out of the plane window he was right there was colourful and little lights flickering on and off at the local park, It was awesome! Today I wake at 5:00 in the morning, because today is going to be really exciting as my family and I are going to America for two weeks! 10:30 we arrive at the airport,we take off at 12:00. Well time to board the plane now; in our seats I try to get comfortable because there is an 8 hour ride coming my way. All of a sudden the plane starts to move forward and it gets faster and faster as we go up in the air, then when I looked out of the plane window I see all the little houses.
I heard a crash then I looked out the aeroplane window there was a fire on engine ES6B. The captan shouted through the speakers for everyone to brace for impact. There was a thump then silence. The front part of the plane split away from the other side one side went plumbing in to the water like a torpedo. A few minutes later we tilted upwards. A child ran to one of the exits and blew up the life raft while the caption called for help. Soon later a red arrow flew over head escorted by rescue choppers, they let down a line and said children first. I was lifted to safety!
Walking around, waiting for the for the plane to land I noticed a man. He was giving a away free Tobuscus (a small sweet). I took a couple and boarded the plane. It was a long journey. I peeked through the plane's window and saw cars, houses, fields and woods. Later that journey I looked out of the plane window again and saw monsters and weird-looking spiders. Then I heard a voice, it said we have crash-landed and have teleported to a creepy world. It also had shrubs (that moved) and cheese that walked. It was like the opposite of earth. A kind of waste-land.
The children enjoyed a fabulous day, celebrating the wonderful world of reading. A huge well done to everyone who dressed up as their favourite book character. Mrs Hall and Miss Lightfoot looked extremely convincing as governesses (Miss Minton from 'Journey to the River Sea). Ellie won the prize for the best costume as she came dressed as The Snow Queen.
Here are some questions you can practise:
A HUGE well done to the children who are regularly entering this challenge. I can see the impact this has on your writing in lessons.
