What a fantastic way to end the Autumn term. Enjoy the holiday, have a rest and most importantly Merry Christmas.
Miss Shield and Mrs Coy
Have you ever wanted to visit the Grand Canyon? Well our Year 6 class could be your tour guide. As part of our Geography topic, Year 6 have been learning all about the Grand Canyon: its flora and fauna, geology and even what you can do if you visited. Their hard-work over the last few weeks has culminated in them producing their own Trip Advisor style reviews and sand art to show the different geological make up of each strata. They have also worked in small groups to turn their reviews into green screen videos. They have shown their ability to work collaboratively and to master using new technologies to create their masterpieces.

Over the past few weeks, Year 6 and the whole of Key Stage 2 have been extra busy as the rehearsed for the Key Stage 2 Christmas Performance. Wow, the hard-work paid off as over the past two days they have shown just what stars they are. Their telling of the Christmas Story through the play "The Stars come out for Christmas" was fantastic and I am sure there are several budding actors in the class. Each and every member of the cast should be extremely proud of how hard they worked. Year 6's rendition of Silent Night had Mrs Coy with tears in her eyes.
Congratulations Year 6 on an amazing last Christmas production at Year 6 and a huge thank you to Miss Shield for her amazing effort to bring the show to life. I am sure your parents, friends and family are as proud of you as we are. Today, the spirit of Christmas has come to Year 6. First, we were treated to a sneak preview performance of the EYFS Nativity before joining Year 2 to complete a special Christmas related Design and Technology (D&T) project. As part of their DT project, Year 2 made Christmas decorations. Year 6 were partnered with a member of Year 2 to act as their design buddy. We have helped them with spellings and with ideas. Once the pupils had drawn their design in their book, the fun began and it was time to create their stunning decorations. They have created some amazing decorations, from brilliant baubles to shimmering snowmen and sensational stockings. Although we were there to help Year 2 with their DT project, it was not just decorations that have been made today but new friendships, too. We have loved working with Year 2 to help them be successful. Thank you for letting us help you! Year 6 have had a brilliant afternoon creating interactive Christmas Calendars. They used Pic Collage and Thinglink apps to create a truly interactive experience. Hopefully we will be able to share soon. |
