As I walked into the trenches I felt petrified and sceard. The trench was very muddy, wet and cold and also very smelly. Meanwhile the sandbags and floorboards were all around and I was very nervous about shooting and fighting. However it was cold and dark at night and the thought of getting trench rot terrified me. Actually though I felt proud that I was standing up for my contry.

As I walked into the trenches I heard lots of explosions and gun shots getting fired by the Germans. So I found a place to hide and shot back at them and then my team Joined in. When they stoped firing at us it was lunch time so we set of to the canteen to have cold and slimy food that left me feeling emty inside. After that cold and slimy food I felt very sleepy so I tried to find the driest place but that was Just a miniscule spot. I tried to skweese in but it was just to small. After a long day of perishing wind, ear bracking bombs, lots of letters and heart bracking homesickness, I have finally got to go into the village.
As I walked into the trenches I immediateloy aware of the smell of stincking mud. I didn't feel very happy because it was dark and I was in a strange country. I was missing my family a lot and didn't know how long I would be away. It was very noisy with all the explosions and bullets. Luckily I was with my friends that went with me to the war.
As I walked into the trenches I feel worried in case I get shot.
As I walked into the trenches I am scared. As I walked into the trenches I thinking of my family. As I walked into the trenches I hope to make it home alive. As I walked into the trenches I am wishing this war will end soon. As I walked into the trenches I saw a man with trench foot and a massive rat. As I walked on and on I smelled putrid mud. I heard the jet black boms exploding like fier worcks in the sky and to stop me from dying I put a gas mask on. The brown sqelchy mud oozed into my thick boots and smelt like a wet dog's nose. 20 days later the bombs stopt exploding and 1 day after it was the Christmas trouce and us and the Germans went out waving wite hances and we played foot ball.
As I walked into the trenches I could smell the smoke off the shelling. Also I could here gun shot off guns. I feel very nervous here in the war it is very noisy. I am scared when I hear the loud noises that sound like fireworks. I see craters in the ground and other people running everywhere.
As I walked into the trenches I felt sad and grumpy. It was damp, muddy and so cold I was shivering uncontrollably. I felt a tear trickle down my face, there was no time to be scared, I must combat my fear. I wished I was back home because I missed my mum and dad. I was very nervous because I had never done anything like that before.
As i walked into the trenches i saw huge furry rats running all over.
My first day in the trenches was a bit fighting for me because i herd explosions going of. We couldn't see anything because all of the smoke from the gunshots. As i walked into the trenches fear set in. As i walked into the trenches for the first time i could feel my heart pounding as i was so scared of the whole thing. On Wednesday 5th November we met Charlie a soldier from WW1. He talked to the children about life in the trenches during the war and shared some of his experiences and stories. The whole class enjoyed experiencing how the soldiers were recruited, trained with broomsticks instead of real guns and learned to march. It was a nice insight into the life of an ordinary soldier during the war.
AS I WALKED INTO THE TRENCHES I........felt nervous and frightened. I could hear the different sounds of bombs and guns firing, soldiers crying, then there is silence. When I write to my family I just sit on the damp floor wishing I was back home. In the trenches life gets miserable, freezing cold, dark, wet and sad. As I sit in the trenches I make brilliant friends.
